Using our specialty pharmacies
Priority Health Medicare and Medicaid members may fill specialty medications at any in-network pharmacy, including the specialty pharmacies listed below.
Applicable to commercial and MyPriority PPACA plans only.
For some medications covered by the pharmacy benefit, members must use a preferred specialty pharmacy listed below. These medications are identified on the Approved Drug List with the icon below.
Prescribing and authorizing specialty drugs
- For drugs that require prior authorization, an approval must be granted first.
Complete a Priority Health prior authorization form. Information about utilization management criteria can be found on the Approved Drug List.
- Once Priority Health approves the authorization, call or fax the medication request to the specialty pharmacy (see below).
- If applicable, a Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) from the specialty pharmacy contacts you or the patient to arrange for delivery and collection of copayment.
- If the dispensed medication is an injectable drug, or has specific storage requirements (ex: refrigeration) the specialty pharmacy will ship the order through overnight express delivery to the requested delivery site. All necessary supplies such as syringes, needles, alcohol pads and sharps containers are provided at no extra cost.
Specialty drug refills
If applicable, a Patient Care Coordinator from the specialty pharmacy will contact the patient or your office about a week before the next scheduled refill to arrange for delivery and payment of copayment.
